Top Ten Most Dangerous Cities in the U.S.

1. Detroit,MI
2. St. Louis, MO
3. Flint, MI
4. Oakland, CA
5. Camden, NJ
6. Birmingham, AL
7. North Charleston, SC
8. Memphis, TN
9. Richmond, CA
10. Cleveland, OH

As a group we thought that finding the most dangerous cities in the U.S. would be interesting. The list at the top is what we found. As you can see, Detroit is the most dangerous U.S. city. We found statistics on this site. The thing that surprised us the most was that none of New Yorks sections were on the list. We thought that Harlem, New York, the home of Frank Lucas or the "American Gangster" would at least be on the list.

Dallas, D.J., Gage, Harlee

I am surprised at Memphis Tennesse. I would think Youngstown, or Columbus Ohio would be up there Damn Dangerous towns. Zanesville Ohio as well. Sure glad to be back in Georgia, I hated Ohio too much crime.

You are surprised at Memphis?? Have you ever been there? I lived there for a year and a half and it's a really crime ridden city. I'll never recommend that city to anyone. Let's put it this way. Austin Tx and Memphis have the same amount of people at around 700k. Austin had about 3500 violent crimes in 07 while Memphis had over 10,000.

The reason New York cities are not there is because of the flight of a lot of New Yorkers to the South and the beefed up security ESPECIALLY in NYC since 9/11

I left The Bronx in '95 for Atlanta, GA and never looked back. I was born in Harlem and Raised in the Bronx.

When I left New York it was becoming a safer city, but I remember during the 80's I buried A LOT of my friends and I lived in a so called SAFE Neighborhood in the Northeast Bronx.

Most of the kids in New York TRYING to be hard are just frontin' the worst of the worst in New York are Dead, Locked up, retired or just plain moved out and resurfaced in cities like Baltimore, Atlanta, DC, Richmond, Miami, etc..etc..

New York is no longer a dangerous city, but we ALL know that can change in a heartbeat, but I doubt it.

I am actually PROUD to say, that we are no longer a city distinguished by its base, gutter reputation and a city were people WANT TO take their families.

I've lived in Bedstuy Brooklyn for 5 years now, and I've been to some sad places, but the most shocking, sad, sorrowful place I've ever been is Camden, NJ. Granted, I've never been down south, but I wish more people could see what it is like there... it's shocking. It needs to change.

camden, nj doesnt suprise me at all, if you have ever been there you would understand. im a white kid on probation who has to go there every 2 weeks to see my P.O., and let me tell you...theres a reason juvenile probation ends at 6:45pm. because walking alone in camden at night is asking to be robbed or shot.

I know this is old but i saw it in the news and I can't believe it! I live and work in North Charleston, SC its amazing to me that my city would even be on the list!! I am beside myself, I think it could possibly be the influx of yankees in our town -- go home and take your crimes with you!
